Online Trauma Therapy
Are you struggling and
know you need help?
If you’re dealing with:
Anxiety or panic that feels sudden or out of control
Flashbacks or intrusive memories
Emotional numbness or overwhelm
Anger outbursts or constant conflict in relationships
Depression or a deep sense of disconnection
I specialize in treating trauma, PTSD, anxiety, panic, and depression using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy, an evidence-based proven method, so you can feel safer, calmer, and more present in your life.
Hi, I am Jonathan. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and a trained EMDR therapist. I offer online trauma therapy to adults across BC.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an internationally recognized, evidence-based therapy for treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related symptoms. It is widely regarded as a gold-standard approach to trauma therapy.
After taking a thorough history and ensuring you feel prepared, EMDR uses bilateral stimulation — guided eye movements, gentle tactile input, or auditory tones — while you focus on traumatic memories. This process helps the brain reprocess distressing experiences so their emotional intensity gradually decreases and resolves.
As a trained EMDR therapist, I will guide you step by step through this process, supporting you as your symptoms lose their hold and your sense of wellbeing returns.

About Jonathan
Trauma healing only happens when there is felt safety
For the past 11 + years I’ve been walking with people impacted by trauma and together doing the work of healing. This journey led me to becoming a Registered Clinical Counsellor, studying the gold-standard trauma therapies (EMDR and IFS), and being trained under expert therapists all so that I am thoroughly equipped to do this work with effectiveness and integrity.

In addition to my years of experience working with people recovering from the impacts of trauma and my advanced training in EMDR (the gold standard in trauma therapy), I bring a structured, grounded, and compassionate presence into the room. I am structured but will never rush you. I will be attuned to your emotional wellbeing and boundaries. I will not pressure or judge you.
My life has been shaped by mentors who slowed down with me, asked the questions no one else asked, and invited me to grow into a more honest, grounded, and loving version of myself — as a husband, a father, and a friend. Their patience, clarity, and courage inform the way I sit with my clients today.

Yes, research has shown that online therapy is as effective as in-person therapy. Here is a randomized control trial showing online EMDR therapy’s effectiveness when compared to in-person EMDR therapy: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38073540/

Our brains are naturally equipped to heal from traumatic memories and experiences. This healing process relies on communication between the amygdala (the brain’s alarm system for stress), the hippocampus (which helps us learn and make sense of memories related to safety and danger), and the prefrontal cortex (which supports reasoning, emotional regulation, and behavior). While many difficult experiences are processed on their own over time, some trauma can become “stuck” and may not fully resolve without support.
Stress reactions are part of our built-in fight, flight, or freeze response. When distress from a troubling event lingers, vivid images, thoughts, and emotions can make it feel as though you are reliving the experience or trapped in that moment. EMDR therapy helps the brain reprocess these memories so healing can continue. The event is still remembered, but the intense fight, flight, or freeze response connected to it no longer has the same hold.

The number of sessions you will require depends on:
What your goals are for therapy. How ambitious are you for change? I like to think of a metaphor of cleaning a house. Do you want to clean the kitchen? Do you want to clean the entire house? Do you want to do a Reno and put a new cabinets? This will impact the length of therapy.
The extent of trauma you have sustained in your life. Part of our work is doing a history of traumatic life events. If you’ve experienced a significant amount of trauma this will extend the amount of time needed for you to reprocess what you’ve been through.
How that trauma has been encoded in your brain and nervous system. Depending several factors (the source, context of a traumatic life event, and your personal background), therapy can take longer to reprocess and heal the wounds that you carry.
